The Akoma Women's Cooperative
Pusu Namojo, Ghana
Founded in 2006 the Akoma cooperative is made up of small groups and individuals from and around the Pusu Namojo village.

The Akoma group use traditional methods to produce their shea butter to a very high international standard making use of the eco friendly processing centre. In return for their craftsmanship they are paid a premium wage. The group has a crèche, kitchen and washing facilities and members are involved in exchange projects to exchange and develop skills and expertise.
In January 2008 stage one of the development of a Craft Village commenced which will expand the cooperative from 100 to 210 employed people.
