About Us
Traditional production methods - Made in Wales
Tucked away in a converted stable situated in the village of Sling, North Wales, business partners Mark Thistlethwaite and Helen Lowe have developed their dream of using the very best of local and home-grown ingredients alongside fairly traded produce to create a sumptuous, wholesome and affordable range of body care products.
It all began two decades ago whilst working for the South London herbalists, G Baldwin & Co est. 1850. From the shops main customer base of West Indian and African descent we were taught exciting ways of using exotic plant butters, herbs and oils, which at the time were pretty much unheard of in the UK, in pharmacology and cooking.
Making bespoke creams to order soon followed and as their popularity increased we got to a point where making up batches before work and carrying them in became impossible. We needed more space and time.
As luck would have it Helen’s parents had decided to sell up and move from their rural Welsh farmhouse so seizing the opportunity we managed to secure a mortgage, give up our day jobs, convert the stable into a workshop and move the business in.
Since that day in May 2004 we have filled the outhouses and meadow with four Anglo Nubian goats using their milk in our soaps and have two hives of bees whose honey and beeswax adds richness to our products. We have also started to grow skin beneficial herbs, such as calendula, to turn into infused oils for future products.
